NYC Rally: Free the Political Prisoners in Iran, 7/1

While the New York protests seem to have gotten smaller, tonight’s rally proved they are as organized and passionate as ever.

Each poster had the image and/or name of someone murdered, missing, or imprisoned since the June 12th election. Chants varied from “Azadi! Set them Free!” to “The people united will never be defeated!” Behind a set of candles that spelled out “IRAN,” the organizers read off the names of every casualty known. After each name, the crowd chanted “Presente!,” adopting a practice from the South American resistance in the 1980s.
